Practical Instruction
Personal training is a hands on profession and the practical component of our curriculum
is designed to give students the confidence and expertise to design and implement a wide
variety of exercise programming for a diverse clientele.

The practical component takes place at
Fitworks Fitness Center [Cleveland (Richmond
Heights campus) or
Lifestyle Family Fitness Center (Columbus campus) and includes:
  • Daily workouts.
  • Coaching on functional training methods.
  • Sports specific training techniques.
  • Rehabilitative exercise techniques.
  • Student designed exercise programming based on real-world scenarios.
  • Instruction on designing exercise programs using a wide variety of equipment. Along
with using traditional benches and machines, you will learn to expand your
programming through the incorporation of body weight exercise and by using non-
traditional equipment such as the stability ball, bands, tubing, medicine balls, the
Bosu, dyna-discs and many other items.
