- How much money do personal trainers make?
- What are some work settings for personal trainers?
Q. Do you provide job placement assistance?
A. Yes. We provide both local and national job placement assistance to our graduates. As a
national company with an excellent reputation for providing employers with some of the best
personal trainers in the industry, we work hard to help you take it to the next step. Our job
placement includes:
- Access to our internship program.
- An extensive list of potential employers.
- Our quest speaker program. Over the course of the curriculum, we bring in
professionals from the health and fitness industry to lecture on a wide variety of
topics. Not only does this give our students the chance to learn about many facets of
the industry, but it is an excellent opportunity for our students to meet face to face
with prospective employers.
- Email notification of hot job leads.
- Assistance with resume and cover letter writing.
- A pass word protected section on the National Personal Training Institute website with
job listings. (http://nationalpersonaltraininginstitute.com/).
- The fact that we have many National Personal Training Institute graduates working in
the health and fitness industry also provides a great networking opportunity for
current students once they graduate.

Q. How does the internship program work?
A. Our internship program is an excellent way for students to gain real world experience,
make excellent contacts and to get a foot in the door when it comes to finding a job. On
many occasions, internships our students have done have lead directly to jobs. Participation
in the internship program is not a requirement for graduation and there is no minimum
number of hours per week a student has to work. We do not place students in internships,
rather we provide students with contact information of a number of fitness facilities in the
area so they can find the best fit for themselves. The only requirement is that the student be
in good standing and in the second half of the National Personal Training Institute program.
(Click here to see a list of some of our current internship sites).
Q. How much money do personal trainers make?
A. Personal trainers are compensated for their work in a variety of ways so there is not one
single answer to that question. For instance, some personal trainers earn a per session
wage while others may work in salaried positions, but there is even a wide variety of
payment levels for trainers working within these areas. Our graduates who are currently
earning a per session wage in a variety of work settings started off earning between $15
and $35 dollars per one hour session. Per session rates vary widely and it’s not uncommon
for personal trainers to charge $100 and up per session.
We’ve also had students take full time jobs as personal trainers, personal training
managers, fitness directors and several have even opend their own personal training
studios. Wages in these work settings vary widely as well and can range anywhere from
$25,000 to over $100,000 a year and up.
Q. What are some work settings for personal trainers?
A. The variety of work settings and opportunities for personal trainers are vast. Locations
where personal trainers are needed include; large full service gyms such as Fitworks, Gold’s
Gym, Lifetime Fitness and World’s gym, smaller personal training only studios such as
Fitness Together, in-home training, high schools, sports specific training centers, spas,
cruise ships and resorts.
